In preparation for Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October 2025, the Ministry of Cooperation has launched a special Swachhotsav Campaign from 17th September to 2nd October 2025. The campaign was inaugurated with the Swachhata Pledge administered by Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, followed by a cleanliness drive at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. Dr. Bhutani also planted a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly practices.

The campaign, organized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guidance of Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, aims to transform cleanliness into a people’s movement. Cooperative societies, federations, and citizens across the country are actively participating to make the campaign widespread and impactful.
As part of the program, unclean sites have been identified as Cleanliness Targeted Units (CTUs) for transformation. Activities include cleaning of public places, health camps for Safai Karmacharis, promotion of eco-friendly festivals, and awareness programs like Waste to Art and Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) initiatives.

On 25th September 2025, the Ministry will organize a special nationwide cleanliness drive under the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” campaign, marking the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. This unique initiative will unite citizens, cooperative organizations, and employees in dedicating one hour of collective shramdaan for cleanliness.

The campaign will culminate on 2nd October 2025, Gandhi Jayanti, with large-scale public participation across states and organizations. The Ministry has urged all States, Union Territories, cooperative societies, and national federations to actively join the movement.
With the objective of making cleanliness a daily lifestyle practice, the Swachhotsav Campaign 2025 seeks to create a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous India through cooperation, collective responsibility, and public participation.
