New Delhi, July 28, 2024: The Ministry of Culture is set to organize a three-day State Museum Conclave from August 1 to 3, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This event aims to strengthen collaboration between State Museums and the Central Government in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the ‘Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum,’ which seeks to showcase global best practices in museum management.
States have been invited to provide detailed insights into their collections, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of India’s rich artifact heritage. The conclave will gather a wide range of stakeholders, including Resident Commissioners, Museum Directors, Superintendents, Curators, and Researchers from across the country. Senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, including the Joint Secretary of the GLAM Division and the Ministry Secretary, will attend, with an address by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
This conclave is part of the third phase of capacity-building initiatives by the GLAM Division, building on previous successful events, including an inter-ministerial consultation in June and a collaborative workshop with France Museums. The goal is to enhance the museum ecosystem in India.
Workshops will be conducted by renowned Indian and international museum professionals, focusing on skills such as collection management, archiving, and museum administration. Masterclasses will cover topics like the architecture of North and South Block, conservation best practices, and fine arts handling.
Participants will engage in hands-on training and networking opportunities for the ‘Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum’ project. The Ministry will also provide information on funding schemes, including the updated Museum Grant Scheme, to support state-level museum development.
