Instructions issued to all operation circles to identify and dismantle unused lines

Gurugram: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has directed all operation circles to identify and remove inactive 33 kV and 11 kV power lines across the state to improve the efficiency and safety of the power distribution system. The instructions were issued by the Chief Engineer of the PD&C office following directions from DHBVN Managing Director Vikram Singh. According to officials, the decision was taken during a meeting of the corporation’s Whole Time Directors. As per the directions, all Superintending Engineers of operation circles and construction circles have been asked to jointly identify 33 kV lines in their respective areas that are currently not in use or are not likely to be used in the future as main or alternative sources for 33 kV substations. Similarly, all circles have also been instructed to identify inactive 11 kV lines that will not be required for future 11 kV feeders. The corporation has clarified that once such lines are identified, the concerned officials must obtain approval from the competent authority and carry out dismantling in accordance with prescribed rules. A DHBVN spokesperson said that the decision is expected to help remove redundant infrastructure and make the power distribution system safer, more organised and more efficient.
