Kalaburagi, May 28, 2026: Members of the Karnataka Pradesh Kuruba Sangha held a large-scale protest in Kalaburagi on Thursday, alleging that attempts were being made within the Congress party to force Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to step down from his position.
Hundreds of protesters, including members of the Kuruba community and supporters of the Chief Minister, gathered at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Chowk under the banner of the organisation. Demonstrators raised slogans against the Congress leadership and expressed their opposition to any reported move aimed at changing the state’s leadership.
As part of the agitation, protesters formed a human chain at the busy junction, briefly affecting vehicular movement in the area. Later, the gathering marched in a procession towards the office of the Deputy Commissioner to submit a memorandum.
Leaders participating in the protest claimed that Siddaramaiah was being unfairly targeted despite leading the government effectively and maintaining strong support among various communities in the state.
The demonstration witnessed significant participation from community leaders, youth groups, and local supporters, with participants calling for political stability and continuity in the state administration.
Police personnel were deployed at key locations to maintain law and order during the protest march and ensure smooth traffic management in the city.
