Prime Minister Modi to Inaugurate Phase One of Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh

New Airport in Jewar Set to Transform NCR Aviation and Cargo Connectivity

New Delhi, 26 March 2026 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on 28 March 2026 to inaugurate Phase One of the Noida International Airport at Jewar. The Prime Minister will first inspect the terminal building at around 11:30 AM before officially inaugurating the airport and addressing a public gathering at noon.

The launch of Noida International Airport marks a major step in India’s ambition to become a global aviation hub. Positioned as the second international airport in the Delhi NCR region alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport, it is designed to handle growing passenger demand while relieving congestion at Delhi’s main airport. The facility will integrate advanced infrastructure, modern aviation systems, and sustainable practices to strengthen both domestic and international connectivity.

Developed under a Public–Private Partnership model with an investment of approximately ₹11,200 crore, Phase One of the airport will initially accommodate 12 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 70 million passengers in the future. The airport features a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, supported by Instrument Landing System technology and state-of-the-art airfield lighting for round-the-clock operations.

In addition to passenger services, the airport hosts a Multi-Modal Cargo Hub with an Integrated Cargo Terminal and logistics zones, designed to manage over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes per year, expandable up to 18 lakh metric tonnes. The hub also includes a 40-acre Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facility, making it a key player in regional cargo operations.

Strategically situated along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is planned as a multi-modal transport hub offering seamless connections to road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems. Its design emphasizes sustainability and cultural aesthetics, with architectural elements inspired by traditional Indian ghats and havelis while aiming for net-zero emissions through energy-efficient technologies.

Noida International Airport is set to play a pivotal role in positioning the Delhi NCR as a world-class aviation and logistics center while supporting India’s long-term growth in global air travel and trade.
