New Delhi, 09 May : In a continued effort to curb drug trafficking, the East District Police are actively conducting a special drive to identify and apprehend drug carriers and suppliers. Under the overall supervision of senior officers, a dedicated team of the Special Staff/East District, led by Inspector Jitendra Malik and operating under the close supervision of ACP/Operations Shri Pawan Kumar, has been deployed for this mission.
The team intensified area patrolling and activated a robust informer network throughout the district. On 07.05.2025, during one such patrol near the service road adjacent to Anand Vihar Bus Stand, New Delhi, at approximately 3:50 PM, the Special Staff team—comprising SI Vikas, ASI Mahesh, HC Sunny Rathi, HC Munender, HC Naresh, and Ct. Rajeev noticed two individuals in suspicious circumstances, carrying a bag.
The individuals were immediately intercepted and detained. Upon questioning, they were identified as: 1. Tahir, resident of Village Ghanghola, PS Dataganj, District Badaun, Uttar Pradesh (Age: 24 years), 2. Nabi Alam, resident of the same village (Age: 22 years).
A cursory search led to the recovery of 230 grams of fine-quality smack from their possession. Accordingly, a case was registered under FIR No. 314/25, dated 08.05.2025, at Police Station PIA, under sections 21/25/29 of the NDPS Act.
Modus Operandi:
During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they were operating as tailor masters in Ikram Nagar, Loni, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, using their profession as a cover to supply narcotics across state lines. Efforts are underway to trace the source of the recovered drugs and identify other members involved in the supply chain. Further investigation is ongoing.
