NEW DELHI, Feb 20, 2025: In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at raising cyber awareness, the “CYGIENE” program was held in Shahdara as part of the celebrations for Delhi Police Week. The event, which took place at the Guru Gobind Singh University East Campus Auditorium, saw an array of distinguished guests and senior police officials.
The chief guest of the event was Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Zone-1, Delhi Police. He was joined by other eminent personalities including Shri Sagar Singh Kalsi, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range), Shri Prashant Gautam, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara District, Ms. Neha Yadav, IPS, Additional DCP-I, Shahdara District and Sh. Deependra Kumar, Additional DCP-II, Shahdara District. The program was chaired by Prof. A K Saini, Director of the East Delhi Campus of GGSIP University and Sh. Mahesh Verma Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi.
The event commenced at 3 PM with a detailed session on cyber hygiene, targeting the general public, especially senior citizens, who are often the victims of cyber crimes. With the rise in cyber frauds over the past few years, the program focused on educating the public on safety measures and techniques to protect themselves from cyber criminals.
Through a series of interactive discussions, presentations and activities, the participants were made aware of the growing threat posed by cyber criminals, as well as the various scams circulating in the online world. Topics such as the modus operandi of cybercriminals, current trends in cyber crimes and preventative measures were covered extensively.
A free health check-up was also organized for the senior citizens, to outreach the common persons.The event concluded with a lively Pentomime show on cyber awareness and senior citizen services, which added an engaging element to the proceedings. Addressing the public, Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, spoke about the importance of following cyber hygiene to safeguard oneself against the ever-evolving threats in the cyber world. Shri Prashant Gautam, IPS, emphasized the necessity of staying vigilant and informed about digital safety practices.
The CYGIENE program proved to be a vital step in equipping the public with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe in today’s increasingly digital world.
