New Delhi, Jan 24, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener, Arvind Kejriwal, on Thursday urged the public to vote for the ‘Broom’ symbol in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections to continue receiving free electricity, water, education, and quality healthcare.
Addressing crowds in Hari Nagar, Rajouri Garden, and Madipur constituencies, Kejriwal cautioned voters that choosing the wrong button could lead to the end of these essential services, urging them to press the ‘Broom’ button to secure these benefits.
“For the past decade, we have worked alongside the people of Delhi to transform the city. A lot has been achieved over the years. Ten years ago, Delhi experienced power outages lasting up to eight hours, but now we ensure 24-hour electricity. No need for generators or inverters anymore,” he stated. “Today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is visiting Delhi, and we welcome him. I would like to ask Mr. Yogi why, despite having a double-engine BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, the state still faces frequent power cuts. I’ve heard about six-hour outages in Noida, eight-hour cuts in Lucknow, and ten-hour power disruptions in several parts of Uttar Pradesh.”
Kejriwal claimed that Delhi is the only city in the country with consistent 24-hour electricity. He warned voters, saying, “If you press the wrong button, you risk your home losing power. If you vote for the ‘Lotus’ symbol, you might return to a blackout just like in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, or Haryana. People in Uttar Pradesh voted for the wrong party and are now paying the price.”
Kejriwal also spotlighted the improvements in Delhi’s government schools, where education is now free, and schools have undergone significant upgrades. He criticized the state of government schools in Uttar Pradesh despite Yogi Adityanath’s decade in power, offering to send Delhi’s Education Minister to help improve schools in Uttar Pradesh.
“BJP governs 20 states, but the condition of government schools across these states remains appalling,” he claimed.
He emphasized, “Bus travel for women in Delhi is completely free, unlike in BJP-governed states. Every month, families in Delhi save approximately Rs 5,000 on electricity bills, Rs 10,000 on children’s education, Rs 2,000-2,500 on women’s bus fares, and Rs 5,000 on healthcare. That means each family saves Rs 20,000-22,000 every month under AAP’s government.”
Kejriwal concluded, “It’s now evident that AAP is set to form the government in Delhi again,” adding that even the BJP acknowledges this.
