3 July 2024 :- Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed to Portuguese broadcaster RTP that the current European Championship will be his last. “It is, without doubt, my last European Championship. But I’m not emotional about that,” he said after Portugal’s win over Slovenia in the Round of 16. Despite failing to score in four matches and missing a crucial penalty against Slovenia, Ronaldo emphasized his commitment to the team and his love for football.
Reflecting on his emotions, he acknowledged the highs and lows of the game, stating, “Even the strongest people have their bad days. I was at rock bottom when the team needed me most.” However, he expressed happiness for the team’s success, noting, “I will always give my best for this shirt, whether I fail or not, but you have to take responsibility.”
Ronaldo, the record holder for most goals in European Championships with 14, said his main motivation now is “making people happy.” He added, “It’s not about leaving the world of football. What else is there for me to do or win? It’s not going to come down to one point more or one point less.”
