London, 28 June, 2024 : Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has expressed deep hurt and anger following the revelation that a supporter of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party made a racial slur against him. Sunak, the first ethnic-minority prime minister of the United Kingdom, emphasized the necessity of addressing such issues publicly.
The incident, highlighted by Channel 4 News, involved a man identified as Andrew Parker who used a racial slur targeting Sunak’s South Asian heritage. Sunak, born in Southampton in 1980 to Hindu parents of Punjabi Indian descent, responded to the offensive remarks.
“My two daughters have to witness and hear Reform supporters campaigning for Nigel Farage calling me an effing Paki. It hurts and it makes me angry, and I believe he has some questions to answer,” Sunak stated on Friday.
