New Delhi— Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Union Cabinet approved a ₹2000 crore grant to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for the next four years, marking a significant push for India’s rural economy, cooperative sector, and grassroots employment.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Amit Shah said the financial assistance of ₹500 crore per year will empower NCDC to support new cooperative projects, help in plant expansion, and facilitate loans to cooperative societies. “This will benefit crores of members, empower women to become self-reliant, and create new job opportunities for youth,” he stated.

The move is part of PM Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation), aimed at making cooperatives a cornerstone of inclusive and sustainable development.

In another key Cabinet decision, ₹6,520 crore has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, including an additional ₹1,920 crore. The scheme will now enable the establishment of:

  • 50 multi-product food irradiation units

  • 100 food testing laboratories

These initiatives aim to enhance food preservation, ensure better quality and safety standards, and help farmers get higher prices for their produce.

A third major Cabinet decision approved ₹11,169 crore for four multi-tracking railway projects across 13 districts in the eastern, central, and western regions of India. The expansion, which will cover an additional 574 kilometers, is expected to:

  • Improve regional rail connectivity

  • Stimulate industry and trade

  • Generate new employment opportunities

Amit Shah reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to building a modern, high-speed rail network that enhances passenger comfort, safety, and accessibility across the nation.

These combined efforts signal a focused vision toward building an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India)—one that uplifts rural livelihoods, strengthens infrastructure, and accelerates the cooperative movement in India.

Shah’s message echoed a broader policy commitment: “With PM Modi’s leadership, cooperatives are becoming engines of inclusive growth and national prosperity.”
