Vaishno Devi Helicopter Bird Strike: Major Accident Averted During Katra Flight

 Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, March 7: A potentially serious helicopter incident was narrowly avoided on Friday during the pilgrimage to the revered Vaishno Devi Temple when a bird collided with a helicopter carrying devotees.

According to officials, the helicopter was flying from Sanjichhat Helipad toward Katra when the bird struck the aircraft mid-air. The impact damaged the helicopter’s front windshield, creating a tense situation for those on board.

Despite the sudden collision, the pilot maintained control of the aircraft and acted swiftly to ensure the safety of all passengers. Demonstrating calm and professional judgment, the pilot successfully carried out a safe landing, preventing what could have turned into a major accident.

All devotees on board escaped unharmed, and authorities later inspected the helicopter to assess the damage caused by the bird strike.

The incident briefly raised concerns among pilgrims traveling to the famous shrine, which sees thousands of visitors daily. However, officials confirmed that the situation was brought under control quickly and that safety protocols were followed.
