New Delhi, July 19, 2026 : Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) ahead of the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, calling upon all political parties to ensure meaningful discussions and the smooth conduct of House proceedings.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Government and various political parties in the Lok Sabha, who exchanged views on the legislative agenda and other business proposed for the session. Members also raised several issues of public importance and national concern that they wished to be discussed during the course of the Monsoon Session.
During the meeting, the Speaker invited all parties to present their suggestions and stressed the importance of constructive deliberations, active participation and adherence to the highest parliamentary traditions. He appealed to members across party lines to cooperate in ensuring that Parliament functions in an orderly and productive manner so that matters concerning the people receive comprehensive discussion.
The Business Advisory Committee took note of the suggestions made by members. The schedule of discussions and the allocation of time for legislative business and other agenda items will be finalised in accordance with established parliamentary procedures and in consultation with the Government and leaders of political parties.
Expressing confidence in the House, the Speaker said he expects all members to work collectively to make the Monsoon Session productive, dignified and focused on issues of national and public interest.
