Kathak and Rajasthani Folk Performances Enchant Audience at ‘Rangat’ Cultural Evening during Rajasthan Utsav at Bikaner House

New Delhi, March 23, 2026:The ongoing 11-day Rajasthan Utsav at Bikaner House, New Delhi, witnessed a vibrant cultural evening titled ‘Rangat’, where mesmerizing Kathak performances and soulful Rajasthani folk songs captivated the audience. The festival will continue till March 25, 2026.

Organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the evening featured renowned folk artist Magda Khan from Barmer along with his 12-member troupe. Their lively and melodious renditions of traditional Rajasthani folk songs created an engaging atmosphere and left the audience spellbound.

Assistant Director of Tourism, Mr. Chhatrapal Yadav, informed that Kathak artists Ms. Sukriti Agrawal and Ms. Bheetika Raheja from the prestigious Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, Delhi, delivered an enthralling performance on the composition ‘Ithlati-Balkhati’ by the legendary Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj. Their graceful expressions and rhythmic movements drew great appreciation, with many spectators capturing the moments on their devices.

Senior Accounts Officer, Office of the Resident Commissioner, Ms. Shreya Bhadouria, stated that the stalls set up by RUDA and Rajeevika witnessed significant footfall, with visitors enthusiastically purchasing traditional Rajasthani handicrafts. The food court also saw a large turnout, as people enjoyed authentic Rajasthani delicacies.

She further added that during the remaining three days of the festival, a variety of cultural and traditional competitions will be organized to engage visitors. These include puppet shows, fashion show ‘Dhola-Moomal’, folk dance and singing competitions, turban tying competition, three-leg race, handkerchief snatching game, and tug-of-war.

Participants from all age groups can register free of cost to take part in these competitions. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges as per the rules and will be awarded prizes.
