New Delhi, 21 Nov 23– Hockey India has unveiled the 34-member core probable group for the Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp, scheduled from November 22 to December 10 at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. The camp is a crucial preparation for the 5 Nations Tournament in Valencia 2023, featuring India, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, and hosts Spain, set to take place from December 15 to 22.
The coaching camp plays a vital role in the Indian Women’s Hockey Team’s readiness for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024, beginning on January 13, 2024. The squad, coming off a gold medal win against Japan at the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023, aims to maintain its momentum.
The core group includes goalkeepers Savita, Rajani Etimarpu, Bichu Devi Kharibam, and Bansari Solanki. Defenders comprise Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Akshata Abaso Dhekale, Jyoti Chhatri, and Mahima Chaudhary. Midfielders called up for the camp include Nisha, Salima Tete, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Mariana Kujur, Sonika, Neha, Baljeet Kaur, Reena Khokhar, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, and Ajmina Kujur. The forward line-up features Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sharmila Devi, Deepika, Sangita Kumari, Mumtaz Khan, Sunelita Toppo, and Beauty Dungdung.
Indian Women’s Hockey Team Chief Coach Janneke Schopman emphasized the significance of the upcoming camp, stating, “The National Coaching Camp will allow us to regroup, work on areas needing improvement, and provide a roadmap to achieve our immediate goals, especially as we prepare for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers Ranchi 2024.”
