Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 19 : Harmanpreet Kaur will captain India for the first time in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, with star opener Smriti Mandhana named as her deputy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a strong 15-member squad for the mega event, along with the team for the upcoming Australia ODI series.
The Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will be held from September 30 to November 2, with India playing the tournament opener against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru. India, who came agonisingly close in the 2017 final at Lord’s, will look to end their title drought this year.

Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol earn places after consistent domestic performances.

Ahead of the tournament, India will host Australia in a three-match ODI series on September 14, 17, and 20. The first two matches will be played in Mullanpur, followed by the final clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
