Faridabad: Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Rajesh Nagar said that procurement of wheat and mustard is progressing smoothly in mandis across the state and the government is closely monitoring the process to ensure farmers face no inconvenience. He said he has personally visited mandis in Kurukshetra, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Karnal to review the arrangements and issue necessary directions to officials. He said procurement of wheat and mustard at Minimum Support Price (MSP) began across all districts from April 1, with modern measures such as geo-tagging of farmers’ vehicles, entry passes for mandis and biometric verification to prevent outside traders from posing as farmers. He said the system is being reviewed daily and shared that around 5,000 farmers brought mustard to mandis, of which 4,836 metric tonnes have been purchased out of 9,978 metric tonnes so far, while 7,04,573 metric tonnes of wheat arrived through 1,27,312 gate passes, with 1,23,373 metric tonnes already procured. Under the guidance of Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, he said arrangements have been ensured so farmers can sell their crops smoothly. The minister also warned people spreading rumours about a shortage of cooking fuel, stating that strict action is being taken, with 19 FIRs registered and 17 arrests made so far in such cases across the state. Clarifying the situation, he said there is no shortage of cooking gas in the state and necessary directions have been issued to gas suppliers. PNG connections are also being provided with simplified procedures. He added that migrant workers are being provided with 5-kg cooking gas cylinders and adequate stock of LPG is available in the state, assuring residents that there is no need to panic.
