New Delhi, 25 September 2025– The Delhi government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a landmark decision to boost village development in the capital. In the very first meeting of the newly formed Delhi Rural Development Board, more than 431 projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore were approved. Chairing the meeting, CM Rekha Gupta said that villages are not only symbols of tradition and culture but also the lifeline of Delhi. The government’s goal is to strengthen basic infrastructure in rural areas and speed up development work. She assured that there will be no shortage of funds for village development.
The meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat with Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, Vice-Chairman Gajendra Singh Daral, MLAs Raj Karan Khatri, Ahir Deepak Chaudhary, Neelam Pehlwan, Kuldeep Solanki, Ravinder Singh Negi, and senior officials from the concerned departments.

The Chief Minister pointed out that in the very first meeting, projects worth more than Rs 1,000 crore had been cleared – a first for Delhi. These funds will be used for building roads, drains, ponds, community centres, parks, cremation grounds, and sports fields. The projects cover 30 assembly constituencies and 4 parliamentary constituencies.
She directed officials to quickly prepare an area-wise list of projects for each constituency so that approvals and execution can move forward. Setting clear priorities, she said, would bring more transparency and speed to the work.
Better Facilities, Stronger Infrastructure
Many village projects in Delhi are still pending. After reviewing both old and new proposals, the Board approved 431 new schemes. These will provide modern facilities and better infrastructure in all villages.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to complete all rural development projects within the set timeframe. She stressed that her government is committed to giving rural residents the same basic facilities as those living in urban areas. The projects will be carried out with the help of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, the Municipal Corporation, and other agencies.
She also suggested dividing Lok Sabha constituencies among Board members so that work can be monitored more closely. This would ensure transparency, accountability, and faster progress. The CM urged officials and representatives to work together to equip Delhi’s villages with modern facilities.
Wave of Development to Reach Villages
The approved funds will be used for building approach roads and village roads, developing ponds and reservoirs, setting up community centres, parks, cremation grounds, sports fields, gyms, and libraries. Drainage systems, chaupals, banquet halls, and other facilities will also be built or renovated. In addition, drinking water facilities, streetlights, and other need-based works will be provided to make villages better connected and better equipped.
