Six Killed in Major Fire Near Palam Metro Station in Delhi

Blaze in residential building claims lives of three children among victims as multiple fire tenders rush to control flames and rescue trapped residents

New Delhi, March 18: At least six people, including three children, lost their lives and several others were seriously injured after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building near Shri Ram Chowk, close to the Palam Metro station in southwest Delhi on Wednesday morning.

According to officials from the Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services, the incident was reported early in the day, triggering a large-scale emergency response. Around 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the blaze and carry out rescue operations.

Fire officials said they received a distress call at around 7 am regarding flames engulfing a building in Gali Number-2 near Shri Ram Chowk. Firefighters immediately reached the site and began efforts to evacuate residents trapped inside.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel stated that nearly a dozen individuals were initially feared trapped in the building. Police teams have been assisting fire personnel in managing the situation and ensuring safe evacuation.

Authorities said the full extent of damage and the cause of the fire will be determined once the firefighting and rescue operations are completed.
