Major step towards strengthening Delhi Government’s administrative set-up

Making the administrative system efficient and accountable is our government’s priority: CM Rekha Gupta

New Delhi, 19 August 2026 : Under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has taken an important decision to further strengthen administrative efficiency, transparent governance and public service delivery. As per an order issued by the Services Department, 111 officers of the Delhi Government’s DSS cadre have been promoted and orders for their new postings have been issued. The Chief Minister said the new responsibilities assigned to the officers would help accelerate public service delivery in health, education, revenue and other key departments. Making Delhi’s administrative system more active and accountable is a priority for the government. These Grade-I officers had been facing career stagnation for a long time due to the lack of promotions.

Efficiency of education, health, GST and other departments to improve

The Chief Minister said the concerned officers have been promoted and assigned new responsibilities. Under the decision, a large number of officers have been posted as Deputy Directors (DSS) in the Education Department, which will help ensure the smooth functioning of the school education system. In addition, officers have been promoted and posted as Deputy Medical Superintendents in major Delhi hospitals (Lok Nayak Hospital, GB Pant Hospital, GTB Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital) and as Deputy Directors in the Directorate of Health Services.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also said the promoted officers have been appointed as new SDMs (Headquarters) in various sub-divisions of the Revenue and Trade Tax Department and as Assistant Commissioners in the Department of Trade and Taxes (DT&T). Promoted officers have also been posted as Deputy Secretaries in the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat and other departments, besides postings in the Law and Justice Department and the Directorate of Vigilance. She said this step by the Delhi Government would prove highly significant in making citizen services faster, more transparent and more effective.

Government committed to encouraging spirit of service

The Chief Minister said the promotions reflect the Delhi Government’s commitment to advancing the careers of its employees and encouraging their spirit of service. The Delhi Government has ensured that eligible and experienced officers receive due recognition and promotion. The decision is an important step towards addressing the long-standing stagnation in the DASS cadre.

Grade-I officers of DASS had been facing career stagnation for a long time. The promotions have been made possible under the directions of the Delhi High Court and the process of cadre restructuring. Under the order, officers in various departments, including education, health, revenue and the LG Secretariat, have been posted to their new positions, including those of Deputy Director, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Medical Superintendent.
