Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Flags Off 300 EV Buses, Launches Key Transport Projects to Boost Clean Mobility

Under this initiative, financial assistance worth ₹24 crore has been disbursed to 12,877 beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), encouraging more citizens to adopt electric vehicles.

New Delhi: In a major push to transform the national capital’s transport landscape, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated a series of key initiatives aimed at promoting clean, efficient, and modern mobility across the city.

As part of the government’s green transport mission, the Chief Minister flagged off 300 new electric buses, significantly strengthening the capital’s eco-friendly public transport fleet. With this addition, the total number of electric buses inducted in the past year has crossed 2,000, marking a major step towards reducing vehicular pollution in Delhi.

In another significant development, an interstate bus service connecting Nanaksar to Ghaziabad was also launched, enhancing regional connectivity and providing a more convenient commuting option for daily passengers traveling between Delhi and neighbouring areas.

Further boosting infrastructure, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art, technology-enabled office for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The upcoming facility is expected to improve administrative efficiency and support the growing operations of the public transport system.

Reaffirming its commitment to electric mobility, the Delhi government also announced the reopening of the EV Subsidy Portal. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the government is focused on building a pollution-free and sustainable Delhi. She stated that continuous investments in electric mobility, modern infrastructure, and commuter-friendly services are crucial to achieving long-term environmental goals.

The latest initiatives underline the Delhi government’s vision of creating a clean, modern, and seamless transport system, while tackling the pressing issue of air pollution in the national capital.
