Bihar Government to Launch Youth Commission, Says CM Nitish Kumar

Panel to focus on jobs, skills, education, and welfare of youth under 45; will work across departments

Patna, July 8 — In a major step towards youth empowerment, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission on Monday. The move aims to boost employment, education, and skill development initiatives for the state’s young population.

Sharing the news via his official account on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister said the newly approved commission will act as an advisory and coordinating body, offering key recommendations on youth-centric policies. It will engage with various state departments to improve job prospects and educational access for young people.

According to Kumar, the commission will comprise one chairperson, two vice-chairpersons, and seven members, all aged 45 years or below. Its mandate includes monitoring private sector job trends in Bihar, supporting students pursuing studies outside the state, and designing programmes to safeguard the youth from falling into social evils.

“The primary aim is to build a progressive environment where youth are active contributors to Bihar’s development,” the Chief Minister added.
