Vancouver [Canada], August 1:In a major milestone for cricket in North America, BC Place Stadium has been announced as the official venue for the inaugural edition of the Canada Super 60 tournament. The announcement marks a pivotal step in expanding the sport’s footprint in the region and elevating its global profile.
The Canada Super 60 will feature both men’s and women’s 10-over-a-side cricket tournaments—making it the first of its kind to launch with equal representation from the outset. With this, cricket is poised to break new ground on the West Coast of Canada.
BC Place, located in downtown Vancouver, is a world-renowned stadium that has hosted landmark events including the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics ceremonies, and multiple Grey Cup championships. Its retractable roof and advanced infrastructure make it ideal for year-round, all-weather sporting events—this will also be the first indoor venue globally to host a 10-over cricket tournament.
Cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, a key voice behind the initiative, stated,
“BC Place is not just a stadium; it’s a theatre of dreams. For our players, there couldn’t be a better venue to start this journey. Vancouver’s spirit of diversity and culture is the perfect home for the Super 60.”
Amjad Bajwa, President of Cricket Canada, added,
“We feel incredibly proud to introduce BC Place to the world of cricket. This partnership sends a strong message about our commitment to expanding cricket across the nation.”
Chris May, General Manager of BC Place, echoed similar sentiments:
“Hosting the Canada Super 60 is a tremendous opportunity to showcase cricket in one of the most dynamic sporting venues in the world.”
The official tournament dates and ticketing details will be announced soon. As cricket continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports in North America, the Canada Super 60 promises an electrifying blend of sport, culture, and community engagement in the heart of Vancouver.
