New Delhi, June 8: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah said that the welfare of the poor remains the highest priority of the Narendra Modi-led government, highlighting the impact of various social welfare schemes implemented over the past 12 years.

In a message shared on social media, Shah stated that government initiatives aimed at financial inclusion, housing, social security and self-employment have helped millions of citizens become part of the country’s economic mainstream.

He noted that flagship programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, free food grain distribution scheme, PM Mudra Yojana and PM SVANidhi have played a significant role in improving the lives of economically weaker sections and enhancing their access to financial services and livelihood opportunities.

According to the Home Minister, these initiatives have enabled crores of people to access banking facilities, financial security and entrepreneurial opportunities, contributing to inclusive economic growth across the country.

Shah said the government’s efforts are focused not only on providing basic infrastructure and social security but also on ensuring a better standard of living for disadvantaged sections of society. He added that integrating poor households into the formal economy is helping create a strong foundation for the vision of a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat.”

The minister emphasized that sustained investment in welfare programmes and financial empowerment remains central to the government’s development agenda, with the objective of ensuring that the benefits of economic growth reach every section of society.

The remarks come as the government highlights the achievements of various welfare schemes launched over the past decade, aimed at expanding social protection and economic opportunities for millions of beneficiaries across the country.
