New Delhi, August 13, 2024: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, extended his congratulations to Vinay Mohan Kwatra on his appointment as India’s new Ambassador to the United States. Garcetti took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his enthusiasm, stating, “Congratulations to my friend Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra on your appointment as the Ambassador of India to the United States! Looking forward to working closely with you and taking our partnership to new heights.
Kwatra, who previously served as India’s Foreign Secretary, officially assumed his role as Ambassador to the US on Tuesday, succeeding Taranjit Singh Sandhu. In his own post on X, Kwatra expressed his commitment to enhancing the bilateral relationship, saying, “Privileged to assume charge as the Ambassador of India to the United States of America. Team @IndianEmbassyUS will continue to work intensely to strengthen this crucial partnership.”
The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) also welcomed Kwatra’s appointment, stating, “USISPF warmly welcomes @AmbVMKwatra as he begins his tenure as the Indian Ambassador to the U.S. We wish him a successful and productive tenure and look forward to working closely with him and @IndianEmbassyUS to elevate the US-India partnership.”
The appointment comes at a time of strong US-India relations. On Monday, the White House underscored the significance of the US-India partnership, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre highlighting the collaborative efforts on key issues, including the Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) and emerging technologies. Jean-Pierre emphasized President Joe Biden’s view of the relationship as one of the most consequential in the world.
