Adani Enterprises Refutes Claims of Partnership with Chinese Firms BYD and Beijing Welion

Mumbai, August 4, 2025:Adani Enterprises has categorically denied recent media reports suggesting a strategic tie-up with Chinese companies BYD and Beijing Welion New Energy Technology. The company issued a formal statement through a stock exchange filing, rejecting the claims as “baseless, inaccurate and misleading.”

The clarification comes in response to a report by Bloomberg, which claimed that the Adani Group was in advanced talks with BYD for a partnership to enhance battery manufacturing and energy storage capabilities in India. The report speculated that the potential collaboration could involve a joint venture or a technology agreement focused on gigafactory development and advanced cell production.

“We categorically deny Bloomberg’s report on August 4, 2025, suggesting a tie-up between the Adani Group and Chinese companies BYD and Beijing Welion New Energy Technology,” Adani Enterprises stated. “The Adani Group is not exploring any form of collaboration with BYD for battery manufacturing in India. Similarly, we are not engaged in any discussions with Beijing Welion for a partnership of any kind.”

The Bloomberg report had highlighted BYD’s technological leadership in LFP and blade battery technology and framed the alleged partnership as aligning with Adani’s broader renewable energy and EV ambitions. However, Adani’s statement firmly dismisses any such engagement.

Adani Enterprises, the flagship of the Adani Group, has been actively expanding its presence in sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, and infrastructure. However, the company emphasized that no talks or agreements are in progress with the mentioned Chinese firms.

The denial comes amid increasing scrutiny of foreign partnerships in strategic sectors like energy and manufacturing, particularly those involving Chinese companies.
