New Delhi, August 14, 2026; The rainy season brings relief from scorching temperatures, but for many people, it can also leave them feeling unusually sluggish and less motivated. Longer periods of cloudy weather, increased humidity and changes in daily routines may contribute to a noticeable dip in energy levels.
One major reason is the humid atmosphere. When moisture levels rise, the body may find it harder to cool itself through sweating, making even routine activities feel more tiring. People may also drink less water during cooler, rainy days, increasing the risk of mild dehydration.
Reduced exposure to sunlight can also affect the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. With darker mornings and overcast skies, some people may experience changes in sleep patterns and feel drowsier during the day.
Diet and activity levels often change during the monsoon as well. Frequent consumption of fried snacks, irregular meals and reduced physical movement can leave the body feeling heavy and inactive.
To maintain better energy, experts generally recommend drinking enough water throughout the day and including fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein-rich foods in regular meals. Limiting excessively oily or sugary foods can also help avoid sudden energy crashes.
Keeping a consistent sleep schedule is equally important. Getting adequate nighttime rest and spending some time outdoors when weather conditions permit can help support a healthy body clock.
Light exercise can further improve alertness. Stretching, walking indoors, yoga or a short home workout can keep the body active when rain prevents outdoor activities.
The monsoon does not have to mean spending the entire day feeling sleepy. With proper hydration, balanced meals, regular movement and a stable sleep routine, it is possible to stay refreshed and productive throughout the season.
