CM Rekha Gupta Visits Hospital to Meet Victims of Malviya Nagar Fire Tragedy

New Delhi, 4 June 2026- Delhi Chief Minister  Rekha Gupta on Thursday visited a hospital in Saket to inquire about the condition of those injured in the tragic fire incident in Malviya Nagar. She met the injured patients admitted there, spoke with their family members, and received updates on their treatment from doctors. The Chief Minister directed the hospital administration and concerned officials to ensure the best possible medical care for all those injured and said there should be no shortcomings in their treatment. She stated that the Delhi Government stands with the affected families with full sensitivity and commitment during this difficult time.

The Chief Minister announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in the fire. Those who sustained serious injuries will receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh. She also directed officials to make all necessary arrangements without delay to ensure that the mortal remains of deceased victims whose families reside in other states or abroad are transported to their homes with dignity.

 

While interacting with the injured patients, the Chief Minister assured them that the Delhi Government is standing by them and would extend every possible support for their speedy recovery. She sought individual updates from doctors on each patient’s condition and instructed them to maintain continuous monitoring of the treatment process.

Appreciation for Rescue Efforts

During her interaction with the injured and their families, the Chief Minister was informed that local residents, hotel staff, police personnel and other volunteers risked their own lives during the incident to rescue several people safely. Efforts were also made to save lives by administering CPR to a number of injured persons at the spot. Praising everyone involved in the rescue operation, the Chief Minister said their courage, prompt response and humanitarian spirit during the crisis were highly commendable. She directed officials to identify and honour citizens, police personnel and employees who made significant contributions to the relief and rescue efforts.

Comprehensive Review of Fire Safety Standards

The Chief Minister said that preliminary information had revealed several serious safety-related shortcomings. In many buildings, information regarding emergency exits, fire safety systems and other safety arrangements does not adequately reach occupants. She directed the concerned departments to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident and undertake a special audit of fire safety standards in hotels, commercial establishments and other public buildings across the Capital. She said that strict action would be taken against those found responsible wherever negligence or violations of rules are established.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the incident as deeply tragic and painful. She paid tribute to those who lost their lives and expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She also wished the injured a speedy recovery. She said the Delhi Government stands firmly with all those affected and their families during this challenging period. All necessary arrangements related to relief, treatment and rehabilitation will be ensured on priority so that every possible assistance can be provided to the affected families.
