Haryana to conduct state level flood mock drill in 13 districts on May 14

Large scale preparedness exercise planned to strengthen disaster response after past flood experiences

Chandigarh, May 13, 2026: The Haryana government will conduct a state level flood mock drill on May 14 across 13 flood prone districts to test and strengthen emergency preparedness and response systems.

The exercise will be held simultaneously in Gurugram, Ambala, Faridabad, Fatehabad, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Panipat, Palwal, Sirsa, Sonipat and Yamunanagar districts.

Officials said the coordinated drill is aimed at improving coordination between district administrations, disaster response teams and field agencies in handling flood like situations more efficiently. The exercise is part of efforts to enhance readiness based on lessons learned from floods in 2023 and 2025.

Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue and Disaster Management) Dr Sumita Misra said the large scale exercise is an important step towards strengthening the state’s disaster management system and improving ground level response capacity.

Authorities added that the mock drill will help identify gaps in preparedness, improve real time coordination and ensure faster response mechanisms in case of actual emergencies during the monsoon season.
