The incident occurred near Pardholi village within the limits of the CB Ganj police station when a fast-moving SUV rammed into a motorcycle from behind before crashing into a stationary tanker parked along the roadside.
According to police, the SUV — reportedly a Bolero — was heading from the Lucknow side when it struck the two-wheeler ahead of it. The impact caused the driver to lose control, after which the vehicle veered off and collided with a tanker.
The force of the collision left both vehicles badly damaged, with the front portion of the SUV completely crushed.
Officials said three occupants of the SUV and two individuals on the motorcycle died at the scene. The victims have been identified as Sikandar Kumar, Manmohan, Shamsad, and Mumtaz, while one deceased person is yet to be identified.
Three others, including two children and the SUV driver, sustained injuries and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing loud noises and cries for help, assisting in rescue efforts before alerting authorities. Police teams reached the scene promptly and shifted the injured to medical facilities.
Preliminary findings suggest that high speed and possible negligence on the part of the SUV driver may have led to the crash. Authorities have begun a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, and legal proceedings are underway. Police officials stated that necessary action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
