Faridabad, 09 December, 2023– A platform that marked the presence of Faridabad on the international map of film cities is about to rock the city once again. Yes, it is the time for the fifth session of ‘INDOGMA FILM FESTIVAL”. This time the festival, as a repeat of last year, would be organized at ‘J.C. Bose University of science and technology’ (erstwhile YMCA University). A press conference in form of a curtain raiser was organized at the university on 7th December 2023.
The founder director of the festival Chandan Mehta was there to share the schedule of events in the festival with the media persons present in the press conference. He informed that the J.C. Bose University Science and technology, Faridabad is the co-host to the event this time again. He said that it is really kind to the management of university to join hands with the organisers of film festival and allowing their facility to be used for the festival. On the one hand this provides an infrastructure that is needed for the festival, on the other it provides the students of mass communication and media studies a practical exposure to the art form they read in academics.
Riya Sorout, a student of animation and multi-media greeted the media and other honorable guests while welcoming all the guests. Later Advocate Panchjanya Singh Batra, spokesperson Indogma Film Festival 2023 addressed the gathering and narrated the journey of Indogma in India that started as a brain child of Director Chandan Mehta, supported by J.C. Bose University since very beginning. She informed that though Chandan Mehta himself is a well- known actor, singer and director, he has attributed the success of the initiative of the film festival to his team members.
Chandan Mehta, director of the festival, in his address informed that the series of Indogma Film Festival that started in the year 2018 has reached a stage where the participants wait for it from all over the world. With participants from over 22 countries already submitting their entries, the festival has received 160 entries this time spread over various categories of film making that spreads over every aspect of short film and feature film making. Out of 160 entries this year, 80 are shortlisted for final viewing and 60 have been selected for the final contest. With number of entries increasing each year the quality of films submitted is improving every year as the level of competition is rising too. He said that it is in the best interest of the film industry that the bar is raised for the participants.
Mehta informed that the festival would be starting on 13th December 2023 with the inauguration ceremony on 13th and the prize distribution being scheduled for 17th.
Director General Indogma Film Festival 2023 Dr. Mukesh Gambhir said that the dedication and commitment of Chandan Mehta is really commendable. He said that Mehta has been religiously involved in making his dream true by organizing the film festival. He said that with this film festival being organized every year without fail, Faridabad has been successfully marked as popular destination for film fraternity. Well-known film personality and former president of BJP Delhi Manoj Kumar Tiwari has kindly consented to be the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony, informed Mehta. Master class, one of the special features of Indogma Film Festival, would be taken by well-known film personalities Mike Berry, Pooja Singh and Deepa Mishra. He also informed that another feature added in Indogma film festival this year is that the festival would be available for viewing to people sitting far away from Faridabad as the same would be available on different channels to view. Like every year, the jury of the festival will be drawn from film personalities, said Mehta. He informed that the PRO to the event would be well known media personality Sanjay Chaturvedi.
The poster release ceremony was conducted by even coordinators Arco, Aditya and Rajiv. The trio is also known as ‘Trio animation brothers’.
Professor Atul Mishra chairman computer engineering department, speaking on the occasion, motivate team of computer application and animation teams. He said that with this festival being organized every year, interest of students towards film and art has considerably increased among the students.
Dr. Pawan Singh Malik, chairman CMT department, while extending his best wishes to the participants and the organisers, said that the festival has really proved to be a blessing for the city of Faridabad as it is now known for its association with one of the most popular film festivals.
Professor Manjit Singh, chairman department of computer applications also conveyed his best wishes to the organisers and the participants.
Professor Poonam Singhal, Dean FLMS also wished best wishes to the Indogma team.
During the press conference, Chandan Mehta also made a special reference of late Dinesh Sehgal, who has been an integral part of the Indogma Film festival from the very first day. Sehgal died recently after a brief illness. Homage was paid to him during the press conference.
Also present on the occasion was S.K. Sachdeva, Ravi K. Ramdhan, Rakesh Roshan Rai, Gajraj Nagar, and Arjun Sehgal among others.
