UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent order for eateries along the Kanwar Yatra routes has sparked significant controversy and opposition

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mandated that all eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route display the names of their owners. This order follows a recent incident where the Muzaffarnagar Police had issued a similar directive but later retracted it in response to significant opposition backlash.

The new rule requires that eateries prominently display the names and contact information of their owners, including visible signage at the establishment’s entrance. The aim is to enhance accountability and transparency, ensuring that pilgrims have clear and accessible information about the businesses they patronize during the Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage that attracts a substantial influx of devotees traveling to various holy sites.

The Chief Minister’s decision seeks to address concerns related to safety, quality of service, and consumer rights. It is intended to prevent any potential exploitation of pilgrims and ensure that food vendors adhere to standards of hygiene and customer service.
