IIT Bombay has imposed fines on eight students for their involvement in a play that allegedly mocked Lord Ram and portrayed the Ramayana in a negative light

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has imposed fines totaling up to Rs 1.2 lakh on eight students who participated in a play titled ‘Raahoban’ during the Performing Arts Festival (PAF) on March 31. According to a Masters student at the institute, the play allegedly mocked Lord Ram and portrayed the ‘Ramayana’ in a vulgar and derogatory manner.
