NEW DELHI , 18 October , 2024- Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Health Minister, Satyendar Jain, was granted bail after spending over two years in jail, on Friday. Satyendar Jain, the architect behind Delhi’s healthcare revolution, including the globally recognized Mohalla Clinics, was arrested in a fabricated case by the BJP’s ‘caged-parrots’. Following the Rouse Avenue Court’s decision, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and several party leaders expressed their relief and gratitude, calling the bail a victory for truth and justice over evil.
The AAP leaders reiterated their belief that Satyendar Jain’s imprisonment was part of a larger political conspiracy to derail the advancements made in Delhi under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. The Aam Aadmi Party has vowed to continue its mission of delivering quality healthcare to the people of Delhi. Notably, Satyendar Jain was represented by Senior Advocate N. Hariharan, Advocates Vivek Jain and Mohammad Irshad
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal expressed immense relief and questioned the reasons behind Satyendar Jain’s prolonged imprisonment. “Satyendar Jain has finally been granted bail after more than two years. What was his crime? His house was raided multiple times, but not a single penny was recovered. His only fault was providing free healthcare to the people of Delhi through Mohalla Clinics. The Modi government put him behind bars to stop these services, but today, justice has been served,” he wrote on X.
Simultaneously, the AAP National Convenor expressed his hope for party MLA Amantullah Khan’s release from jail as well. “Amanatullah Khan still remains in jail. I pray that he also gets justice soon,” he wrote in a separate tweet on X.
While, Senior AAP Leader Manish Sisodia spoke to the media and expressed his happiness over the bail. “I am very happy today that our brother, our friend, and our party’s senior leader, Satyendar Kumar Jain, has received bail from the honorable court. Satyender Jain is the architect of the Mohalla Clinic revolution in this country. He has shown how the public health system, government health system, and large government hospitals can be transformed magnificently. This is not an impossible task; Satyendar Jain has made it possible. The people of Delhi have received excellent hospitals and new facilities thanks to Satyendar Jain. Old hospitals have been revamped because of him and innovative initiatives like Mohalla Clinics have emerged, from which people across the country are learning. Many states have adopted the Mohalla Clinic model; this is all the contribution of Satyendar Jain.”
He further talked about how Satyendar Jain worked hard to serve the people of Delhi, but the BJP conspired against him. “They feared that if Arvind Kejriwal’s government continued to improve health services in Delhi, people across the country would start questioning the BJP about why Satyendar Jain and Arvind Kejriwal could fix hospitals in Delhi, but they couldn’t fix those in Uttar Pradesh.
In the other states where your government is in power, why aren’t you improving the government hospitals? People would start asking questions. That’s why they had Satyendar Jain arrested. The BJP conducted raids at his house four times, yet despite all that, they found not a single paisa or piece of paper. Under false accusations, through deceitful conspiracies, and by using draconian laws, they kept him in jail. This is a significant conspiracy by the BJP.”
The Senior AAP Leader said that the entire conspiracy of the BJP has been exposed because nothing came out against Satyendar Jain. “The court noted today that it doesn’t know how long this case will take because there are no substantive issues. They have created a false case by piecing together unrelated matters. Today, the BJP should apologize to Satyendar Jain for wasting so many days of his life. Furthermore, PM Modi and the BJP should also apologize to the people of Delhi because Satyendar Jain’s imprisonment has harmed the progress in government hospitals and the work being done at Mohalla Clinics.”
He further said that the BJP aimed to defame Satyendar Jain, Arvind Kejriwal, and Sanjay Singh. “And the common thread in all these instances is that nothing came out from any of them. Only false accusations were made, and the Enforcement Directorate imprisoned people. There was only one objective: to halt the work for the people of Delhi. Today, I want to tell the people of Delhi that the BJP engages in conspiracy to stop progress. We have all seen in the past couple of years how they tried to imprison all of us to halt our efforts. But now, Arvind Kejriwal and everyone else have been released, and work will proceed rapidly.”
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann echoed the sentiment, stating, “Truth has prevailed. Satyendar Jain has been granted bail after two years of imprisonment. The people of Delhi and beyond will remember his contributions to healthcare, and today’s decision reaffirms our faith in justice.”
