Delhi Police Celebrates International Day of Yoga 2024 with Enthusiastic Participation

New Delhi , 21 , June, 2024- The International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated annually on June 21 to create awareness about vast potential of Yoga in improving overall health and well-being. Recognizing the universal appeal of yoga, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga. The draft resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and endorsed by a record 175 member states. The proposal was first introduced by Sh. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly.

Carrying on with this tradition, the Welfare Unit of Delhi Police under the overall supervision of Sh. Sanjay Kumar, Spl. CP/Welfare observed the International Day of Yoga-2024 in the lawns of Delhi Police Headquarters, Jai Singh Road, New Delhi. In the early morning hours the officers and men of Delhi Police led by Sh. Sanjay Arora, Commissioner of Police Delhi took part this yoga session. The yoga instructors displayed various yoga movements for the ease of participants as per the protocols of Yoga.

Around 345 participants including officers of the rank of Spl. CP, Jt. CP, Addl. CP, DCP as well as other police personnel of various ranks participated in the event. Apart from this, all the districts/units of Delhi Police have also organised separate yoga sessions.
