Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Day 7: Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur Film Crosses ₹32 Crore, Slows Down Midweek

Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur’s comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2 witnessed a dip in its box office performance on Day 7, earning ₹0.74 crore on Thursday. The film’s total domestic collection now stands at ₹32.23 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.

While the film fared better than its competitor Dhadak 2, it has yet to breach the ₹50 crore mark in its first week, which dims its prospects of being a box office hit. The seventh day saw a sharp decline in footfall, especially during evening and night shows, where occupancy reportedly dropped to 0% in several key regions.

The overall Hindi (2D) occupancy for Day 7 was recorded at 7.11%, with morning shows seeing 5.48% and afternoon shows marginally better at 8.73%.

Regional Performance Highlights:

  • Jaipur led with 14% overall occupancy, peaking at 16% in the afternoon.

  • Lucknow followed with 10.5% overall and 14% in afternoon shows.

  • Delhi NCR posted 8.5% occupancy, with 11% during the afternoon.

  • Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Chandigarh maintained modest numbers around 7%.

  • Kolkata, Surat, and Bhopal reported the weakest engagement, between 3–3.5%.

Concerns Going Forward:

A major red flag emerged with complete absence of evening and night audiences in many major cities—a troubling sign as the film approaches its second weekend. Although Son of Sardaar 2 managed a decent first-week tally, waning interest may affect its long-term run unless the weekend brings renewed momentum, especially in strong-performing regions like Jaipur and Lucknow.

About the Film:

Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora in his first major Hindi film, sees Ajay Devgn reprise his role as Jassi Singh Randhawa. Set in Scotland, the plot follows Jassi as he tries to reconcile with his estranged wife but ends up entangled in mafia rivalries, a chaotic Punjabi wedding, and a hostage crisis.

Despite a promising start, the film now faces an uphill battle at the box office as it seeks to maintain relevance and push past the ₹50 crore benchmark in its second weekend.
