New Delhi August 3 2024 : The 7th edition of the India International Hospitality Expo (IHE 2024) was officially inaugurated today at the India Expo Centre & Mart by Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Shekhawat praised IHE 2024 for its significant contributions to the Indian hospitality sector over the past six years and underscored its role in showcasing the industry on a global scale.
In his keynote address, Shekhawat emphasized the potential of tourism to propel India towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy. He highlighted that tourism, as the second-largest employment generator after agriculture, offers diverse business opportunities and has the potential to establish India as a premier destination. The Minister noted the importance of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) in this growth trajectory and commended IHE for its efforts in advancing the industry.
“Our government is committed to enhancing tourism and hospitality,” Shekhawat stated. “The recent World Heritage Committee meeting, organized swiftly after our new government took office, is a testament to India’s growing prominence on the global stage.”
The expo was attended by notable figures, including Myanmar’s Ambassador H.E. Moe Kyaw Aung, Vietnam’s Chief Trade Counsellor Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, and several prominent industry leaders. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of the India Expo Centre & Mart, highlighted the collaboration with Vietnam as a Partner Country, which includes Vietnamese exhibitors and masterclasses by Vietnamese chefs. Himachal Pradesh was introduced as the ‘Focus State,’ showcasing its potential within the event.
IHE 2024, running from August 3 to 6, 2024, features over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 20,000 B2B buyers from various segments of the hospitality industry, including luxury hotels, resorts, and the F&B sector. This year’s expo also includes major co-located events such as Catering Asia, Tent Décor Asia, BIOFACH, and AYURYOG EXPO.
Attendees can look forward to a range of displays and competitions, including the Pastry Queen India Competition, Master Bakers Challenge India 2024, and the India Pizza League Championship, as part of the four-day Hospitality Sourcing Gala.
