President Murmu Appoints New Governors in Nine States

New Delhi, July 28: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed nine new Governors across India, marking a significant reshuffle in the gubernatorial positions.

Veteran BJP leader and former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand. Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde will take charge as the Governor of Rajasthan, while Jishnu Dev Varma is named as the Governor of Telangana.

Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim, and Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. C. H. Vijayashankar is set to become the Governor of Meghalaya.

In other appointments, C. P. Radhakrishnan, previously holding additional charge of Telangana, will serve as the Governor of Maharashtra. Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh. Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the current Governor of Sikkim, will now assume the role of Governor of Assam and additionally oversee Manipur.

President Murmu has also accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh.

These appointments will become effective from the dates the new Governors assume their respective offices.
