National Highways Authority of India Invites Applications for Summer Internship Programme 2026

Two-month programme expands to multiple disciplines; applications open till April 15

New Delhi : The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited applications for its ‘Summer Internship Programme 2026’, aimed at nurturing future professionals in the national highway infrastructure sector.

Scheduled tentatively from May 4 to July 5, 2026, the two-month programme builds on the success of earlier internship initiatives and offers students hands-on experience within India’s highway development ecosystem.

This year, the programme has been significantly expanded beyond civil engineering to include a wide range of technical disciplines such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, and Data Science/Artificial Intelligence. In a notable move, NHAI has also opened the programme to non-technical streams, including Law, Commerce, Science, Management, Mass Communication, and Library Science, broadening participation across diverse academic backgrounds.

Selected interns will be placed at NHAI headquarters in New Delhi or at field offices across the country, where they will work under the guidance of experienced officials. The programme offers a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 along with a certificate upon successful completion.

Eligibility is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised institutions, including those ranked under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), as well as reputed law, management, and media institutes.

Applications must be submitted online through the official internship portal by April 15, 2026. Institutes will play a key role in verifying and approving student applications before final selection by NHAI.

The initiative reflects NHAI’s continued focus on strengthening industry-academia collaboration and building a skilled workforce to support the country’s growing infrastructure needs.
