Government Makes Yojana and Employment News Free on WAVES Platform

Government Journals and 227 E-Books Go Free on WAVES OTT Platform

New Delhi, April 9, 2026: In a significant step towards expanding digital access to knowledge, the Publications Division has made several of its leading journals available free of cost on Prasar Bharati’s WAVES OTT platform. Popular publications such as Yojana, Kurukshetra, Aajkal, Bal Bharati, along with the weekly Employment News, can now be accessed by readers across the country without any charge.

The move is aimed at ensuring that reliable and informative content reaches a wider audience. These publications are known for offering detailed insights into socio economic developments, rural issues, literature, and educational content for children, while Employment News continues to serve as a trusted source for job opportunities, recruitment updates, and career guidance.

Alongside journals, the platform now hosts a wide collection of digital books covering multiple subjects. Among them is the widely referred India Year Book, which provides a comprehensive overview of governance, economic progress, and national initiatives. At present, readers can access 227 e books free of cost through the platform.

The Publications Division is also planning to expand this digital library further by adding nearly 300 more titles by the end of April. These additional books will be made available at affordable prices, ensuring that knowledge remains accessible while maintaining sustainability.

To improve convenience, the platform also offers the option to purchase printed books. This service is being facilitated through CSC Grameen eStore under the ONDC framework, allowing readers, including those in rural areas, to easily access physical copies. Currently, more than 500 printed titles are available for purchase.

The initiative reflects a broader effort to combine digital accessibility with traditional reading formats, catering to evolving reader preferences while promoting knowledge dissemination across all sections of society.
