New Delhi, March 6: Syed Ata Hasnain has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar, marking a significant transition from a distinguished military career to a major constitutional role in public service.
A former senior officer of the Indian Army, Lt. Gen. Hasnain is widely recognised for his leadership experience and strategic expertise gained over several decades of service. During his career, he held several important command positions and played a key role in security and counter-insurgency operations.
Following his retirement from active military duty, Hasnain continued contributing to national policy discussions through strategic research, academic engagements, and public commentary on defence and security issues.
His appointment to the gubernatorial post places a seasoned military leader in one of India’s important constitutional offices, where he will oversee the functioning of the state government and act as the representative of the President of India in Bihar.
The move is expected to bring administrative experience, strategic insight, and public service credentials to the role as the state continues to navigate governance and development priorities.
