The wait is over for devotees of Lord Shiva — the holy month of Sawan (Shravan Maas) begins today. Considered the most sacred time for Shiva worship, this lunar month holds deep spiritual significance and will run until Saturday, August 9, 2025.
This year’s Sawan brings with it a powerful alignment of nakshatras and yogas, making every Monday (Sawan Somwar) even more potent for devotion, rituals, and transformation.
As per Vedic astrology, the Pratipada tithi of Sawan starts under Uttarashadha Nakshatra, governed by the Sun — a sign of enlightenment and inner strength. The month is blessed with four Sawan Mondays, each falling under rare and auspicious combinations of yogas, nakshatras, and planetary transits that are ideal for Shiva sadhana.

On the first day of Sawan, temples across India including Kashi Vishwanath, Somnath, and Mahakaleshwar were decked in flowers, with “Har Har Mahadev” echoing through the air. Devotees thronged to perform Abhishek and start their spiritual journey.
Sawan is not just a month—it’s a sacred reminder of surrender, purity, and spiritual discipline. From fasting to chanting and temple visits to daily Abhishekam, every act brings the devotee closer to Mahadev.
Let this Sawan 2025 be a month of transformation, inner peace, and divine connection.
