Narendra Modi Slams TMC in Bengal, Promises Six Guarantees if BJP Comes to Power

PM calls for ‘trust-based governance’, targets Mamata Banerjee government, and pitches double-engine growth model

Haldia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, urging voters to bring change in the upcoming assembly elections while outlining a set of six assurances under a potential BJP government.

Addressing a public gathering in Haldia, a political stronghold of opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, Modi accused the state administration led by Mamata Banerjee of hindering development and fostering an atmosphere of fear. He said the BJP aims to replace what he described as a climate of “fear” with one of “trust” and accountability.

The Prime Minister stated that a BJP government would ensure transparency in governance and hold officials responsible to the public. He also pledged action on pending corruption cases and crimes against women, alleging that such issues had not been adequately addressed under the current regime.

Among other commitments, Modi highlighted plans to extend benefits of the Seventh Pay Commission to state employees and improve opportunities for youth by boosting investment and economic activity. He claimed that a secure and stable environment would attract industries, unlike the present situation which, according to him, discourages investors.

Criticizing the ruling party’s track record, Modi alleged that job opportunities had been compromised and that recruitment processes were affected by irregularities. He also accused the government of prioritizing vote-bank politics over inclusive development.

Calling for a “double-engine government” — with the same party in power at both the Centre and the state — Modi said such alignment would accelerate growth and improve welfare delivery.

The Prime Minister also spoke about strengthening sectors like fisheries and seafood, promising to make West Bengal more self-reliant in these areas. He noted that the central government has already increased focus and funding for the welfare of fishermen.

Referring to past electoral victories, including Nandigram, Modi expressed confidence that similar results could be repeated in key constituencies such as Bhabanipur in the upcoming polls.

He concluded by saying that the large turnout at the rally reflects a growing demand for political change in the state.
