Budapest, May 10 , 2024 : Hungary and China have signed 18 agreements on cooperation in the railway and electric vehicles industries, as well as in other sectors, during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Budapest, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has said in a video message on social media. “Today, the President and [Hungarian] Prime Minister [Viktor Orban] held extremely successful talks, which resulted in the signing of 18 agreements,” Szijjarto said on Thursday. In addition to the Budapest-Belgrade railway, Chinese companies will implement key railway projects in Hungary, including the construction of a ring rail track around the Hungarian capital and a railway from the airport to the city center, the minister said. Other important projects concern Hungary’s border with Serbia, including the expansion of the Roske-Horgos border crossing and the construction of an oil pipeline between Hungary’s Algyo and Serbia’s Novi Sad, Szijjarto said. The construction of Chinese factories for the production of electric cars and batteries for them continues, the Hungarian official said, adding that the network of charging stations for electric
cars will be expanded across the country. As a result of the talks, the list of products Hungary exports to China has been expanded, and
cherries have been added to the export list, Szijjarto said.
