India Shines at 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship, Clinching a Record 83 Gold Medals

NEW DELHI, 28 APRIL 2025: India delivered an extraordinary performance at the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship, held at the KD Jadhav Arena, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi. The event saw India claim a record-breaking 83 gold medals, reaffirming its dominance in the competitive yogasana arena. The championship, which attracted participation from over 21 countries, including Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and others, witnessed intense competition and the rise of yogasana as a significant sport across AsiaIndia’s impeccable performance was highlighted by the record 83 gold medals, with the country showcasing unmatched skill and determination. Japan, the closest competitor, finished second with 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 4 bronzes. Mongolia, Oman, and Nepal rounded out the top five countries, with Mongolia securing 1 gold, 11 silvers, and 6 bronzes, while Nepal earned 27 silvers and 12 bronzes. Other nations, including Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Bhutan, also put up strong performances, contributing to the increasing recognition of yogasana as a competitive sport across the continent. The championship concluded with a grand closing ceremony, attended by several dignitaries, including Harsh Malhotra, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Government of India, and Ajay Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi. The ceremony also saw the presence of senior officials from the Asian and World Yogasana federations, adding to the significance of the event. Umang Dawn, the Secretary-General of Asian Yogasana, opened the ceremony with a warm welcome, followed by an overview of the championship by Sanjay Malpani, President of Asian Yogasana. Jaideep Arya, Secretary-General of World Yogasana, highlighted the growing global stature of yogasana and the importance of such events in promoting the sport worldwide. The event concluded with a colorful cultural showcase, adding vibrancy to the celebrations and reflecting the diverse cultures and traditions represented at the championship. Sanjay Malpani, President of Asian Yogasana, emphasized the importance of yogasana not only for physical strength but also for cultivating mental resilience and focus. “Yogasana not only strengthens the body but also nurtures mental resilience and focus qualities essential for holistic well-being and societal progress.
