Keep giving such advice Captain Bhupender: Narendra Modi

Hisar, April 15,2025:  On Monday, on the occasion of the launch of air services from Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar and the foundation stone laying of Terminal-2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Captain Bhupender. When he came to know that about 11 years ago when Captain Bhupender became the OSD of the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal, he had advised Manohar Lal to expand the airport of Hisar. On knowing this fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi patted Captain Bhupender on the back and said that you should keep giving such advice in future as well because you have very good knowledge about the aviation sector. The country should take advantage of this information. Captain Bhupender welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hisar airport. Anyway, Captain Bhupender Singh is a resident of Mayyad village of Hisar district and he has been OSD to former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Chairman of Kanfed, District President of Hisar BJP. At present, he is the Secretary of Haryana BJP.

It is worth noting that Captain Bhupender Singh is counted among the most trained and experienced pilots of the country. In view of his indomitable courage and skill in the aviation sector, he has been awarded the Vir Chakra. Vir Chakra is the third prestigious award of the army. When Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal appointed Captain Bhupender Singh as his OSD, Manohar Lal took many suggestions from him. One of those suggestions was to expand the airport located in Hisar, Haryana. Captain Bhupender Singh had advised that if the airport of Hisar is made compatible with national and international flights, then Haryana can make its place in the aviation sector worldwide. Hisar airport has plenty of land, so apart from civilian flights, air cargo and maintenance work can also be done very easily here. This will not only generate huge revenue for the state but will also provide thousands of employment opportunities.

If we talk about the Captain’s service as a pilot, he became a helicopter pilot in the Air Force in 1991 and after that he showed indomitable bravery. He showed extraordinary courage by risking his life during a very dangerous posting in Siachen Glacier. Seeing the bravery of Captain Bhupender, the President awarded him the Army’s third highest award, the Vir Chakra, in 1997. These were unprecedented moments of pride for the people of Haryana because Captain Bhupender is the first Air Force officer of the entire state to receive the gallantry award. In 2003, after 11 years of courageous and challenging time, Captain Bhupender voluntarily retired. But in 2013, during the Kedarnath disaster in Uttarakhand, when thousands of people were dying in Uttarakhand, Vir Chakra winner Captain Bhupender emerged as a messiah for thousands of people. He himself contacted the Principal Secretary of Civil Aviation Rakesh Sharma and expressed his desire to help by sharing his experience of flying in inaccessible areas in adverse conditions at that time. After getting permission, the Captain, using his experience, not only organized the rescue operation by giving advance warning to the administration, but also brought more than 500 passengers to a safe place. At that time, even the most experienced pilots had given up. But due to Captain Bhupender’s patience, understanding and courage, the administration was able to know the real situation of these villages after 18 days. Only after this, relief work could be started there.
Captain Bhupender Singh also gets the credit for the modernization of Hisar airport.
