This year, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest, underscoring the growing ties between the two nations. Approximately 10,000 special invitees, including individuals who have excelled in various fields and beneficiaries of government initiatives, will witness the event as part of the government’s effort to include citizens from all walks of life in events of national importance.
The Republic Day parade, the centerpiece of the celebrations, will commence at 10:30 AM and run for about 90 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin the ceremony by paying homage at the National War Memorial, honoring the sacrifices of India’s bravehearts. He will then join other dignitaries at the saluting dais at Kartavya Path.
President Murmu and her Indonesian counterpart will arrive in a traditional buggy, a ceremonial practice revived in 2024 after four decades. Their arrival will be escorted by the prestigious President’s Bodyguard, the oldest and most senior regiment of the Indian Army.
The ceremony will begin with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns, symbolizing India’s self-reliance in defense technology.
A spectacular prelude to the parade will feature 300 cultural artists playing “Sare Jahan Se Achha” using traditional instruments from across India. The ensemble includes the Shehnai, Nadaswaram, Been, Mashak Been, Ransingha, and others, weaving a melody of national pride and unity.
Adding to the grandeur, Mi-17 1V helicopters from 129 Helicopter Unit will shower flower petals over Kartavya Path in the Dhwaj Formation, led by Group Captain Alok Ahlawat, as they troop the National Flag.
President Murmu will take the salute as the parade begins under the command of Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area, with Major General Sumit Mehta as the Second-in-Command.
Param Vir Chakra awardees Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retd) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar (Retd), along with Ashok Chakra winner Lt Col Jas Ram Singh (Retd), will join the parade, honoring their extraordinary bravery.
A special contingent of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, comprising 152 marching members and a 190-member military band, will participate for the first time, symbolizing the strong bonds between the two nations.
