Chhattisgarh State Power Company wraps up Regional Tennis Tournament with Spirited Competition

Raipur, December 21, 2023 – In a thrilling final showdown of the three-day inter-district lawn tennis competition organized by the Chhattisgarh State Power Company, the duo of Rishi Banchhor and Rajneesh Oberai secured the doubles title by defeating the pair of Harshal Vishwakarma and Sunil Singh with a score of 8-6. The culmination of the competition took place amidst a ceremony attended by the Chief Guest, Executive Director Mr. J.S. Netam, who congratulated all the players and expressed appreciation for the active participation of the company’s employees in sports and fitness activities during their regular work.

The concluding event was presided over by Chairman and Managing Director Mr. K.S. Manothiya, who emphasized the balance of physical and mental efforts in sports and commended the endeavors put forth by the players. The event was also addressed by Chief Engineer Mr. Manoj Verma, the organizing committee’s responsible officer.

On this occasion, notable guests including Mr. P.K. Khare, Mr. A.N. Dubey, and Mr. Rajesh Singh were present. The final day of the competition witnessed the felicitation of the winners and runners-up of the team competition for Raipur Region, runners-up Korba West, and singles winners Rajneesh Oberai (Open Singles) and runners-up Harshal Vishwakarma (Open Singles). The victors of the doubles competition were also honored.

During the ceremony, Mr. Netam announced the names of players selected to represent Chhattisgarh in the All India Inter-State Lawn Tennis Competition. The selected players include Rishi Banchhor, Ehtesham ul Haq (Raipur Region), Rajneesh Oberai (Durg), Harshal Vishwakarma, Sunil Singh, Vikalp Tiwari (Korba West), and Samir Tiwari (Bilaspur).

Mr. Vinay Chandrakar, Secretary of the Raipur District Sports Council, revealed that the competition held at the Union Club Raipur from December 19 to 21 featured seven regional teams from across the state. These teams represented Raipur Region, Raipur Central, Bilaspur Region, Durg Region, Rajnandgaon Region, Korba East, and Korba West, with a total of 40 participants.
