New Delhi, January 21, 2024- The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has issued a clarification regarding the recent passenger airplane crash in the mountains of Afghanistan. Contrary to earlier reports, the aircraft involved does not belong to any Indian airlines.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the Civil Aviation Ministry stated, “The unfortunate plane crash that has just occurred in Afghanistan is neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft. It is a Moroccan registered small aircraft.”
The Ministry urged the public to await further details as investigations into the incident are ongoing. The crash took place in a remote mountainous region of Afghanistan, according to media reports.
Earlier misinformation had circulated, with a local media outlet in Afghanistan incorrectly claiming that the crashed passenger aircraft belonged to an Indian carrier.
The Civil Aviation Ministry’s clarification aims to provide accurate information and dispel any confusion surrounding the ownership and origin of the crashed airplane.
