Mumbai, May 20 , 2024 : An estimated 38.77 per cent of over 2.48 crore electorates cast their votes for 264 candidates contesting in 13 parliamentary constituencies of Maharashtra in fifth and final phase of polling in the state up to 1500 hours on Monday amidst tight security. The 13 constituencies are spread across Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palghar districts and North Maharashtra. According to sources in Election Commission, the Dindori constituency recorded highest poll percentage of 45.95, followed by Palghar-42.48 pc, Dhule-39.97 pc, Mumbai North-West-39.91 pc, Nashik-39.41 pc, Mumbai South-39.33 pc, Mumbai North-East-39.15 pc, Mumbai SouthCentral-38.77 pc, Mumbai North-Central-37.66 pc, Bhiwandi-37.06 pc, Mumbai South-36.64 pc, Thane-36.07 pc and Kalyan-32.43 pc. Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities in the state, Ramesh Bais, along with his wife, Rambai, cast their vote at the Raj Bhavan Club polling booth in Malabar Hill area falling under Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency. Amidst reports of glitches in EVMs at different places, clashes between ruling and opposition party workers at some places, complaints of bogus voting, polling was by and large peaceful with no untoward incident being reported so far, sources added.
